B.W. Furlong and Associates is an exclusively equine practice located in the countryside of northwestern New Jersey. We are members of the American Association for Equine Practicioners (AAEP) and the New Jersey Association for Equine Practictioners (NJAEP). The practice includes 7 full-time veterinarians, a Board Certified Internal Medicine Specialist and an on-call Board Certified surgeon. The 15-stall hospital complex includes a neonatal intensive care unit, recovery stall and surgical suite, pharmacy, clinical lab, breeding shed and treatment areas for nuclear scintigraphy, ultrasonography, endoscopy, gastroscopy and shock wave therapy. Our practice provides ambulatory and hospital care with offices in Oldwick, NJ, Wellington, FL and Ocala, FL.

The ambulatory caseload includes extensive sport horse, show horse, and pleasure horse work, all aspects of reproductive medicine, acupuncture, and CEM quarantine services. The clinic receives referrals for adult and neonatal medicine cases with programs for critically ill foals and mares with periparturient problems. Reproduction services include stallion collection, AI (cooled and frozen semen) and embryo transfer. The clinic performs elective and emergency soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries for its clients.

Approximately 70% of hospitalized cases are medical cases. The remaining 30% include in-depth lameness evaluations and elective/emergency surgeries. During the spring the majority of cases are sick neonates and mares with complicated pregnancies. General medicine referrals include horses with neurologic disease, ophthalmic problems, pneumonia/pleuritis, enteritis and colic.
